TERM ONE
TEACHER: Eliot Hankins
DAY: Monday or Tuesday
SESSION: Once a week
An introduction to screen acting.
An emphasis is placed on creating a more 'natural' style, by developing your approach to dialogue.
The term highlights the working differences between film and theatre acting, allowing you to confidentially transition between the two.
The course involves no written work, the classes are taught by Eliot Hankins of Middleweek Newton and are 100% practical.
A total of nine weeks in length, including the end of term showcase. Industry advice & opportunities (on approach of professionals).
ENDS WITH A FILMED SHOWCASE
TERM TWO
TEACHER: Ryan Laccohee
DAY: Monday or Thursday
SESSION: Once a week
A continuation of Term One.
Delve into subtext, script analysis, amalgamate, and build upon methods from Term One.
Working under the guidance of a film and television director, you are exposed to the professional standards expected while working.
Work in front of camera, detail and break down your performances, shoot and analyse your scene.
A total of nine weeks in length, including a professionally showreel. Industry advice & opportunities (on approach of professionals).
ENDS WITH A SHOWREEL SHOOT
TERM THREE
TEACHER: Tom Newton
DAY: Wednesday
SESSION: Once a week
Implementing the new skills learnt during the first two terms.
Focuses on how to create an engaging performance, challenging the actor's preconceptions to make interesting decisions.
Understanding the director's vision for his/her characters & the importance of taking & implementing direction, both within the audition room & on set.
Exploring the variety and ways a scene can be played given the circumstances, delivering a 'stand out' performance.
A total of nine weeks in length, including an audition in front of MN agents. Industry advice & opportunities (on approach of professionals).
ENDS WITH AN AGENCY AUDITION
INDUSTRY TERM
TEACHER: Confirmed via email
DAY: Thursday
SESSION: Once a week
Can only take part if Terms 1, 2 and 3 have been completed.
The Industry Term is only for those wanting to add another, more comprehensive recorded scene to their showreel.
All participants work closely with a director, breaking down the script, performing the scene shot by shot gaining a comprehensive plan for the showreel shoot.
Classmates and peers work as extras during the shooting of your scene, variety of shots give scene increased production value.
The scene is cut together, sent to the actor. Industry meeting, includes how to approach agents & casting directors.
